Luxury Car Battery Maintenance – Common Problems and How to Prevent Them

Date: Sept 29, 2023

2023 Bentley Bentayga

Your luxury vehicle was designed with only the highest level of care and attention to detail, but it will still require regular maintenance to remain in pristine condition. This is why luxury car battery maintenance should not be missed. Car batteries tend to last anywhere from 2-5 years depending on your vehicle, the battery itself, how it’s maintained, and your driving habits.

If you’ve started to notice common luxury car battery problems as you’re driving around St. Louis or Fort Lauderdale, we would be glad to be of assistance to you. Below, we discuss some of the various common luxury car battery problems, as well as how to maintain a luxury car battery.

Common Car Battery Issues

  • A Slow Start: Does your car take longer to start than normal? Your battery could be beginning to fail. While the battery is often the culprit, it’s not the only component that causes the issue. A failing alternator is another potential problem.
  • Regular Jump-starts: If you’ve had to jump-start your vehicle a number of times recently, your battery is struggling to hold a charge. You’ll likely need to replace the battery in the near future.
  • Corrosion: If it’s difficult to get your vehicle to turn over, inspect the battery for the presence of corrosion. Corrosion can lower the voltage of the battery, causing it to operate less efficiently.
  • Low Battery Fluid: Battery fluid is a mixture of distilled water and sulfuric acid. The sulfuric acid helps create electricity in your car. Battery fluid evaporation could lead to electrical issues such as flickering headlights.
  • Age: If your car battery is approximately five years old, it’s likely due for replacement soon.

How to Maintain a Luxury Car Battery: Troubleshooting Tips

  • If your vehicle is starting slowly, how can you tell if it’s the battery or the alternator that is the root cause? If the battery is in fact the root cause, you’ll likely notice other car battery issues: difficulty starting in cold temperatures, cabin lights that won’t illuminate, or the vehicle runs after receiving a jump-start.
  • If you notice corrosion on or around the battery, it should be carefully and safely removed. See if any leaks are present once the battery is clean. If so, we recommend replacing the battery as soon as possible.
  • If your headlights dim or flicker or your car struggles to turn over, low battery fluid could be to blame. Top off the battery fluid if needed, and the issue should be resolved.
