See what’s available with our luxury EV first-time buyer’s guide. We’ve got plenty of options on our lot right now to help you have an eco-friendly and high-performance drive no matter where the road takes you.

Four Things to Consider When Buying a Luxury Electric Car

Shopping for a luxury electric vehicle is a bit different from a vehicle with an internal combustion engine. We’ll go over what to look for in an EV in detail. You’d be surprised how much performance an EV delivers.

  • Overall Cost of Luxury EV Ownership

How much are you going to spend on maintaining your luxury EV? Not as much as with an internal combustion engine. You won’t need oil changes and some other fluid changes because there are fewer moving parts. However, you’ll need to keep an eye on the tires and brakes because luxury EVs are heavier than internal combustion engine models of a similar size. The battery packs are heavier in EVs compared to gasoline engines.

We also recommend installing a special home charger to make charging in your garage much easier. You’ll need an electrician to install one, but this is still cheaper than gasoline, and you have the convenience of charging overnight in your garage while you sleep.

  • Electric Vehicle Range

The overall range between charges is also toward the top of your list when shopping for a luxury EV. Luckily, luxury EVs get plenty of range when you go for weekend getaways to your favorite resort destination. Many luxury models are hybrids at the moment. However, Lotus is the automaker with the best luxury EV sports cars. Rolls-Royce also has a model coming for 2024. Bentley will have an EV in a few years.

You’ll have plenty of juice for driving around St. Louis or Fort Lauderdale or heading to your favorite weekend getaway.

  • Map Out Public Charging Locations

Long drives are not a problem with your luxury EV. Just like any other trip, you’ll need to map out your trip to make sure your EV will have plenty of power at the ready. You can find plenty of DC Fast Charging stations available to the public through your vehicle’s navigation system if equipped.

You’ll need to account for how much you’ll use the air conditioner or heater because those run on electricity from the EV battery. Extremely hot or extremely cold temperatures may reduce the range of your luxury EV, so plan ahead for that as you map your journey from stop to stop.

  • Battery Warranty for EVs

The battery warranty is important for Luxury EV owners because you want the powerplant to last for many years, much like you would with the powertrain of a gasoline-powered vehicle. In general, the battery becomes less effective when it can’t keep up to 80% of its charge. Lotus has an 8-year, 125,000-mile on its EV batteries, which shows the manufacturer’s confidence in its engineering.
